Oxford on Avon

A man from the UK recently contacted me to see if I could help locate a pub where he had lunch on a recent trip to Christchurch. From his detailed instructions, I managed to locate it: the Oxford on Avon, on the corner of Colombo Street and Oxford Terrace. Here's the entrance:

Ziya's Cafe

Just off the left of the picture I posted yesterday, here's Ziya's Cafe, a Turkish place with kebabs, apple tea, and all. Very nice.

Cashel Street at lunchtime

Cashel St, near Cathedral Square, is a nice place to go at lunchtime. There are loads of little restaurants and shops around. Here's a picture a bit further from the square - you can just see the pedestrian area at the end, behind the trees.

On the right in this picture are some hotels, and the left is a bit more alternative: Cosmic Corner, Galaxy Records, Java Cafe, a Korean dairy that used to be a dance music store.

CTV building in town

Not my best picture ever, but a good example of a central city building in Christchurch. This is one of the local TV stations.

Fountains outside the Town Hall

Outside the Town Hall, we have these cool fountains ... you can see them in all the tourist brochures, although it doesn't look like people are putting their pictures of them on the web. The installation's official name is the Ferrier Fountain (ask Google for more info).
