Robert "Rock" Howard

[Homepage]

Co-founder and Acting Director for [Americans for Approval Voting].

In 1992 I co-founded the now defunct [Tower Technology] (later Tower J Corp.) I was CEO for 6 years and then CTO for over 3 years. Tower created and sold high performance Eiffel and Java native compilers.

In 2001 I won the first [Curl] programming contest. (Curl is a neat client-side interactive content language that may yet develop enough traction to survive.)

Since performing a contract programing job last fall using Python, I have been exclusively focused on developing Python programming skills. Python rocks!

My political leanings are towards the [Libertarian Party] and I previously served as the chair of the [Travis County Libertarian Party]. Currently I am the TCLP webmaster, but I am in the process of handed these duties off to others.

For 6 months I was the political director for the [Libertarian Party of Texas], but personality conflicts with the new LPTexas leadership ended that assignment.

I have also run for Texas State House twice and did very well for a Libertarian (which is not saying much.) Once a month I host [Live and Let Live], a local cable access show which has been airing for over 15 years.

I am a Cal Tech graduate in Physics and Astronomy, but I have been a software engineer and entreprenuer my entire professional career (which is now over 22 years.) I am looking for my next opportunity now and certainly would entertain any suggestions for interesting work. Drop me a line at rock at rockhoward.com.
